One of our important projects was to turn up a secondary 100G point to point circuit to create redundancy to help prevent downtime. We reached out directly to a Tier 1 upstream internet service provider and signed a contract for a 100G circuit.
After assuring us it would work, the ISP found that they could not connect at the originally planned end point because of a large build, of which they expected MSEC to pay the fee. This back-and-forth process took around 9 months with no resolution in sight. After this tumultuous time period with no services turned up, we needed to find a way to get creative with a solution.
We had worked with Brander Group to purchase IPv4 addresses in the past. At the time of our struggle, we decided to ask for their assistance getting this 100G circuit turned up.
Their team of provider agnostic engineers scoped out the project to better understand the problem and end goal. We then scheduled a call with the ISP’s team, which is separate, far more knowledgeable and proactive than our direct ISP representative. After a few strategy calls, Brander Group was able to identify a different access point across the street that wouldn’t inconvenience MSEC nor the ISP too much. After the plan was put on paper, we worked with Brander Group and the ISP to execute in a timely manner.
The ISP had a small build, and they absorbed the cost. With complete oversight and constant communication from Brander Group, we were finally able to get the circuit turned up within 60 days of our initial involvement of their team. This is exceptionally fast given the rural area and task at hand.
The circuit was installed, and we got the redundancy we needed. We even purchased another 20G dedicated internet circuit with Brander Groups oversight and support. The turn up of both circuits and the approach Brander Group took was instrumental in our success.
